Thermal Comfort Analysis Using System Dynamics Modeling—A Sustainable Scenario Proposition for Low-Income Housing in Brazil

As a riveting example of social housing in Brazil, the Minha Casa Vida program was set 2009 to diminish 6-million-home deficit by offering affordable dwellings for low-income families. However, recurrent thermal discomfort complaints occur among dwellers, especially Baltimore Residential sample Uberlândia City. To avoid negative effects energy poverty, such as family budget constraints from purchase electric appliances and extra costs power consumption, simulation based on system dynamics modeling shows natural ventilation strategy with mixed combination sustainable energy-efficient materials (tilting window up 100% opening, green tempered glass, expanded polystyrene wall) observe internal room temperature variation over time. With 50% opening ratio combined 3 mm regular glass 12.5 cm rectangular 8-hole brick wall, this scenario presents highest value held during entire period. From worst best-case scenario, substantial reduction peak observed size variation, demonstrating that constructive elements low complexity wide availability market contribute comfort residential rooms.
